Twenty-three teams joined the action in this week’s Academy Gaming Overwatch tournament. Yesterday’s tournament featured some of North America’s top talent with (#12) The 1 Percent making their AG debut.

In the round of 8 we had the pleasure of seeing week 20’s victors, H2K Gaming, back in action taking on Enigma 6. A clean 2-0 victory for the squad helped them grab a spot in the semifinals along with The 1 Percent, Hammers eSports, and Velociraptor Gaming.

The upper-bracket semifinal match featured a top 15 North American showdown with (#12) The 1 Percent facing off against (#13) H2K. As expected, this series was a close one with Lijiang going a to a game five in which The 1 Percent managed to battle back and take the map. Heading to game two on Ilios, The 1 Percent started out with a dominant 2-0 lead until H2K’s DPS player ‘Lui’ made a change over to his comfort pick, Pharah, to tie it up 2-2. Although they managed to come back, The 1 Percent proved to be too much, taking the map and the series 2-0.

In the lower-half of the bracket Velociraptor Gaming pulled out the 2-0 victory over Hammers eSports. A thrilling final series of the night between two top 20 teams who ensue, with Lijiang Tower as the first map. The 1 Percent again proving themselves to be the best, taking the map despite a few hiccups. Both would head to King’s Row for map two with The 1 Percent finding themselves with the upper hand, taking the series 2-0 and winning the AG Weekly in their debut.
