Academy Gaming Overwatch Weekly #20 Results

The Academy Gaming Overwatch Weekly #20 was full of surprises with 22 teams signed up for this week’s action. Week 19’s winner, KATT5, were among the teams with others such as Hammers eSports, Team AGG, Enigma 6, H2K, Kungarna, and I’m Your Huckleberry.

A few early upsets surprised most with Kungarna taking down the previous week’s COW Open winner ‘I’m Your Huckleberry’ in a 2-1 fashion, but fell short in the round of 8 to H2K who had an extraordinary evening of Overwatch play. Devastation managed to squeeze past Enigma 6, runner-up from week 19, in a 2-1 fashion but fell flat against H2K in the semifinals.

On the upper half of the bracket, an expected KATT5 vs Hammers eSports match was quite the treat with Hammers finding revenge from last week, grabbing themselves a 2-1 victory and a legendary finals rematch between themselves and H2K. Hammers grabbed a hard fought victory on King’s Row to go up 1-0 in the series, but H2K bounced back on Dorado to tie up the series 1-1. Heading to Lijiang Tower for the third and final map of the evening, Hammers grabbed a solid 2-1 lead and looked poised to take the series. However, H2K had the advantage on the last two points and made the comeback to win 3-2 and take the weekly tournament.

It had been some time since we had seen H2K perform so well, but rightfully so with a few roster adjustments. Hammers also had two new members on their roster with Cynic and Verbo, both of which helped their squad perform in a solid manner throughout the evening.

Check out the brackets from week 20 here. Be sure to signup for next week’s tournament when the action resumes!
